PALECEK receives our first shipment of handcrafted rattan baskets and decorative accessories from Southeast Asia.
One of our earliest wholesale customers is Bloomingdale's with the first overseas shipment picked-up and delivered in a jeep. We start small in a 3,000 square foot workspace.
Allan and Nancy Palecek share a small section of another vendors' booth at the San Francisco gift show, where they feature handcrafted baskets. Their small display sparks massive interest, with attendees raving that they’ve never seen anything like these baskets in the market.
We open a San Francisco showroom in the Ice house, across from the Levi Strauss & Co. Building and quickly outgrow this space.
PALECEK is among the first in the industry to import unfinished baskets and innovates to achieve enhanced color consistency using water-based, low VOC colors.
We move to a larger space in the San Francisco Design Center - Galleria.
We relocate our operations from San Francisco across the bay to Richmond, California to accommodate expansion.
LA showroom is established at LAMart.
PALECEK creates the Norman Rockwell Collection of accessories inspired by the details and feelings expressed in the work of the beloved American painter.
Our signature Paris Bistro Chair is among the first of our woven chairs; it will remain in our collection for more than 35 years.

President Franklin Roosevelt's yacht the Potomac, his "floating white house," was sold to a succession of owners, including Elvis Presley, before being restored as a national monument by the Port of Oakland in California. With the exclusive permission of the Roosevelt family, PALECEK recreated selected furnishings from the Potomac, and launched them as the President's Collection in Spring 1991.
Metropolitan Home Magazine places PALECEK on its list of 100 style-setters of 1990 naming Allan Palecek “champion of the woven chair.”
Plenum system is established in finishing department enabling one line paint clean-up and distribution of paint colors through different outlets.
PALECEK Relocates from Carlson Boulevard site to Florida St. facility to accommodate further expansion.
The PALECEK Lighting Department is established.
New York showroom opens at NYDC in the iconic 200 Lex building.
In 1995, cushions with dymetrol decking and a "presser" to stretch fabric across a chair eliminating the strain of pulling, are introduced and production doubles. Channeling for the back of lounge chairs is also perfected for an elevated, deluxe option.
Atlanta showroom is established at AmericasMart location.
Dallas showroom is established at World Trade Center location.
PALECEK Philippines office is established, allowing for efficient logistics, partnership, and production.
PALECEK enters a licensing partnership with the National Geographic Society to launch the National Geographic Home Collection. Net proceeds from sales support the society's World Culture Fund for the study and preservation of world cultures.
As a second generation of a family-owned company, Andrew T. Palecek joins our executive team in 2004. Andrew grew up in the business absorbing and improving the culture by persistently prioritizing relationships, partnerships, and quality above profit. Andrew oversees creative direction for an organization that now encompasses artisans and suppliers in multiple countries. Using many of the same renewable materials that the company started with half a century ago, he continues to innovate, carrying the PALECEK legacy forward for the generations to come.
PALECEK purchases, renovates, and relocates to Parr Boulevard facility in Richmond, California. The 250,000 square feet headquarters includes finishing, upholstery, and lighting departments, offices and inventory of over 500 customizable frames.
PALECEK unveils the first collection from celebrity designer Jeffrey Alan Marks in October 2012. Marks is known for his relaxed and refined spaces. “My desire to partner with PALECEK was based on their extraordinary technical ability when working with unusual natural materials,” he says. “I’ve designed the pieces to make the most of PALECEK’s highly skilled craftsmen to create intricately detailed pieces with simple architectural forms.”
Kirk’s inaugural collaboration with PALECEK is the physical manifestation of years of bottled-up personal design concepts coupled with high luxury interior design experience. The first collection launches at the October High Point market with 130 bold, contemporary pieces added to the PALECEK line.
PALECEK opens its Laguna Niguel Showroom at the Laguna Design Center with a 5,800 square foot space for showcasing products.

PALECEK unveils new second showroom at 200 Lexington. The two seventh-floor showrooms are situated across the hall from one another in the iconic 200 Lex building. Taking over these close-but-separate spaces allows PALECEK to create two distinct showcases—one fully dedicated to outdoor and the other to interior furnishings, lighting, and accessories—while still offering seamless, integrated access to the company’s broad range of sophisticated and timeless designs.
Los Angeles showroom relocates from LAMart to Pacific Design Center.
With 680 solar roof panels installed, PALECEK's 250,000-square-foot Bay Area production facility is entirely powered by solar energy. We launch a new website, designed to be not only useful and informative, but also inspiring. For the first time, our trade partners are able to explore redesigned product pages, customize products, discover galleries of design inspiration, and purchase PALECEK products directly online.
